NRTC's services are supported by a network of well-established partnerships, starting with national organizations that serve the needs of rural utilities.
.Coop is an effort that offers new Internet addresses for all cooperatives. As a co-founder of .coop, NRTC encourages all our members, along with the members of NRECA, CFC, and NTCA, to register for their .coop address.
CFC (National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corp.) is a not-for-profit cooperative whose mission is to provide its member utility systems—through their unified, collective strength—with an assured source of low-cost capital, state-of-the-art financial products and business management services. CFC and NRTC work cooperatively on issues that affect our respective members, such as developing and funding telecommunications programs.
Cooperative.com is a private community designed to foster a greater level of open communication and cooperation between the members of the electric cooperative community. NRTC is a key supporter of the site.
Federated Rural Electric Insurance Exchange is the leading provider of property and casualty insurance for rural electric utilities in 38 states. Federated also insures a growing number of telephone systems. Federated and NRTC work cooperatively on insurance issues that affect our respective members.
NCBA (National Cooperative Business Association) is a national, cross-industry membership association representing cooperatives of all type. Through an agreement with NCBA, NRTC's TrueBand Internet Services is now a proud reseller of the .coop domain name and is the lead reseller of the top-level domain to electric and telephone cooperatives in the United States.
NISC NRTC works with the National Information Solutions Cooperative to provide solutions for rural electrics' day-to-day operations. NRTC's ARM system offerings from Cannon Technologies and NERTEC are both compatible with NISC's Outage Information System and Consumer Information System.
NRECA (National Rural Electric Cooperative Association) is the national service organization dedicated to representing the interests of consumer-owned electric cooperatives and their consumers. NRTC and NRECA have a strong history of working together to serve rural electric members.
NTCA (National Telecommunications Cooperative Association) is a national association representing more than 500 small and rural independent local exchange carriers providing telecommunications services throughout rural America. Many of NRTC telephone members also belong to NTCA.
Touchstone Energy is a national alliance of local, consumer-owned electric cooperatives serving 16 million customers in 39 states. NRTC works in conjunction with Touchstone Energy to support the members of the electric cooperative community.
Wireless
MDS (Microwave Data Systems Inc.) is one of the world's leading developers of data telemetry/data networking applications and low/medium-density trunking radios for voice and data applications. NRTC is working with MDS to develop data solutions for rural utilities.
Proxim Wireless provides extended range products for license free wireless data delivery systems and designs turnkey, extended-range wireless systems and supplies wireless data equipment to over 800 wireless ISPs worldwide. Using 802.11b wireless LAN technology, TrueBand's Wi-Fi offering brings NRTC members another method for deploying broadband Internet access.
Satellite Technologies
DIRECTV is America's leading digital television service. NRTC obtained exclusive rights for its members and affiliates to distribute the service in their rural territories.
SBCA (Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Association) is the national trade organization representing all segments of the home satellite industry. NRTC is a member of SBCA and serves on its board of directors.
WildBlue delivers affordable, always-on broadband Internet access services via satellite direct to homes and small businesses in the continental United States. NRTC established a long-term distribution agreement with WildBlue, giving NRTC members the opportunity to provide broadband access to virtually everyone in their communities.
Internet Services
Cisco Systems, Inc. is the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet. As an Authorized Reseller of Cisco products and services, NRTC has negotiated to provide deep discounts on Cisco equipment for our TrueBand Internet Services members.
Lucent Technologies designs and delivers networks for the world's largest communications service providers. Through its strategic alliance with Lucent, NRTC has negotiated to resell Lucent equipment at significant discounts to TrueBand Internet Services members.
Proxyconn Inc. is a leading provider of dial-up internet acceleration services. Dial acceleration is the latest technology designed for dial up Internet access, reducing loading time by compressing files such as graphics. NRTC offers trained technical support and two packages of dial-up acceleration technology to TrueBand Internet Service members.
VIA NET.WORKS is a global provider of managed Web hosting solutions. NRTC has partnered with VIA NET.WORKS to offer full Windows solutions, including e-commerce, Cold Fusion hosting and dedicated offerings.
VeriSign, Inc. is the leading provider of trusted infrastructure services to Web sites, enterprises, electronic commerce service providers, and individuals. NRTC is a member of the VeriSign partner program and can provide you with domain registration at a discounted price.
