February 22, 2011 [Herndon, VA] — During its telephone members’ annual meeting on
Feb. 14, 2011, the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative’s (NRTC’s) Board of Directors
announced that it had chosen Jack Harvey as NRTC's President and Chief Executive Officer. Harvey’s
appointment was effective immediately upon announcement.
Harvey had served on an interim basis since June 2010. During that time, the Board conducted
a comprehensive search for a permanent replacement. As a result of those efforts and based on
Harvey’s effective management of NRTC during this transition period, the Board determined that
Harvey was the ideal candidate to serve as NRTC's leader.
“There’s no better person to lead NRTC forward than Jack Harvey,” said Board Chairman Trevor
Bonnstetter. “In his more than 12 years at NRTC, and certainly in his time as Interim CEO, Jack has
exhibited all of the qualities we’re looking for in someone to guide NRTC into the future:
leadership, vision, solid relationships with members, and a deep understanding of NRTC, its
mission, its members and its products and services.”
Jack brings over 36 years of telecommunications experience to the job. Most recently at NRTC,
Jack served as Senior Vice President of Operations, working to ensure that the products and
services offered by NRTC are delivered, supported and meet members' needs.
“I would like to thank NRTC’s Board of Directors for the support they’ve provided over the
past nine months and for the confidence they’ve shown in selecting me to serve as NRTC’s CEO. I’m
also grateful to NRTC’s members for the trust they’ve placed in NRTC and for the support they’ve
given me personally during the years and during this period of transition,” said Harvey.
NRTC is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The Board added that Harvey has its full
support as he leads the team at NRTC to write the next chapter in NRTC's history and fulfill its
mission on behalf of its members.
