The Value of a Broadband Backbone for Electric Cooperatives Study

Jun 28, 2018

As the number of electric cooperatives evaluating broadband grows, NRTC and NRECA are working hard to provide resources, tools and expertise to help you make the best decisions for your cooperative and the communities you serve.

America’s electric cooperatives are adopting new tools and technologies as they work to meet tomorrow’s energy and technology needs. The transition to a smarter grid requires two-way data flow from a growing number of end points. Increasingly, electric co-ops are turning to broadband backbones to transport this data, optimize operations and meet evolving consumer expectations.

With that in mind, we partnered with Ericsson to develop The Value of a Broadband Backbone for Electric Cooperatives – a resource for electric co-ops that are considering deploying a broadband communications network. This resource is designed to help electric cooperatives build the financial case for that investment.
