Our members are served by several organizations that live cooperative principles and have a member focus. In fact, NRTC was founded by two – NRECA and CFC.
We work closely with these affiliated (or better said, “allied”) organizations to ensure we serve our shared members and rural communities as efficiently and effectively as possible.
The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association is the national service organization dedicated to representing the interests of consumer-owned electric cooperatives and their consumers. NRTC and NRECA have a strong history of working together to serve rural electric members. The Electric portion of NRTC’s annual meeting is held in conjunction with NRECA’s annual meeting.
The Rural Broadband Association is a national association representing small and rural independent local exchange carriers providing telecommunications services throughout rural America. Many of NRTC’s telephone cooperative members also belong to NTCA and the Telco portion of NRTC’s annual meeting is held in conjunction with the NTCA annual meeting.
The National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation (CFC) provides capital and financing services to both electric and Telco cooperatives. CFC and NRTC jointly sponsor or participate in a number of efforts, including CEO and CFO Conferences and Statewide Manager’s dinners at the NRECA regional meetings. CFC was also a founding force behind NRTC and the CEO/Governor of CFC sits on the board of NRTC.
Cooperative.com is a private community designed to foster a greater level of open communication and cooperation between the members of the electric cooperative community. NRTC is a key supporter of the site.
Federated Rural Electric Insurance Exchange is the leading provider of property and casualty insurance for rural electric utilities. Federated also insures a growing number of telephone systems. Federated and NRTC work cooperatively on insurance issues that affect our respective members.
The National Cooperative Business Association is a national, cross-industry membership association representing cooperatives of all types. NRTC worked with NCBA to help establish the .coop domain and foster its adoption among members.
The National Rural Economic Developers Association is a member organization dedicated to the advancement of rural economic development through providing education and networking opportunities.
