MVEA on How NRTC’s Smart Grid Technology Planning Helped Guide the Future of Its Growing Cooperative

March 8, 2024

Mountain View Electric Association (MVEA) is a growing electric cooperative in Southern Central Colorado. The cooperative, like all electric cooperatives, faces its distinctive challenges based on its unique geography, membership needs and existing infrastructure.

The eastern half of MVEA’s territory is very rural, with a scattered population. The western half of its territory, but contrast, encompasses the suburbs of Colorado Springs, which are not only expanding, but also more densely populated.

In this video, we hear from MVEA staff on the value NRTC’s Smart Grid Technology Planning process brought to the cooperative. As is frequently said in the industry, “if you’ve met one electric cooperative, you’ve met one electric cooperative.”

NRTC’s Smart Grid Technology Planning approach takes a wholistic view of each individual cooperative. This video details the process, and what members can expect to gain from a Smart Grid Technology Plan.
