As part of our partnership with DIRECTV, NRTC members can sell DIRECTV, which offers national OTT video content. DIRECTV offers subscribers four programming packages with an array of content and no contracts to sign or long-term commitment. Subscribers can watch content after following a few simple steps to add the DIRECTV Gemini device to their local network or simply download the app. DIRECTV also offers a cloud-based digital video recorder (DVR), the most regional and national sports networks, lifestyle, news as well as add-on packages for movies and international content.


Max

NRTC members have access to provide Max (formerly HBO Max), which has an expansive library of premium streaming video content including award-winning content from HBO, Discovery+ and much more. As part of our partnership with Time Warner, members can offer Max at a more competitive rate than direct-to-consumer and has an easy, low-cost setup process.

MyBundle.TV is an online platform and marketplace that helps viewers navigate the complicated and ever-changing world of streaming and online media. Better still, you can help them track their spending on streaming services and earn some incremental revenue. The co-branded platform includes a Streaming Marketplace, Customer Streaming Hub as well as a Recommendation Tool that provides suggested services or apps based on information entered by the customer about their viewing habits.

Streaming has become an increasingly popular way for consumers to watch their video content. Roku is one of the most well-known streaming devices, which meets every consumer’s needs from HD to 4K to voice remote. All Roku devices provide easy access to free TV, live news, sports, movies, and more.  

To help you support your broadband/non-video customers stream their favorite programs, NRTC has an agreement that allows members to purchase Roku devices at a discounted rate. You can sell the devices (and earn a little margin), use them as prizes for annual meetings or social media events, or as giveaways for broadband bundle upgrades.

Cyber Trust Mark Meant to Inspire IoT Confidence

The FCC recently created a new program to affix a “U.S. Cyber Trust Mark” on internet of things (IoT) devices that meet certain cybersecurity criteria. The Commission noted the high rate of consumer adoption of internet connected IoT devices, such as smart appliances, security systems, thermostats and others, with an estimated 25 billion devices to be in operation by 2030. However, Trust Mark compliance will be voluntary to avoid economic hardship for start-up device companies.

Annual Meeting Themes: Increased Competition and Possible AI Futures

NRTC CEO Tim Bryan and Board Chairman Jimmy Todd both focused their remarks on the rising level of competition for rural providers. They discussed ways that NRTC assists members facing competition, such as business feasibility evaluation, network design and construction, marketing, customer service and many others. During the meetings for telephone members in Tampa and for electric members in San Antonio, Bryan also shared financial results for a successful 2023. Todd announced the results of the 2024 Board Elections. The meeting also featured a demonstration of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
