NRTC this week welcomes Brad Kusant as a regional business manager (RBM) serving members located in eastern states. He joins after 17 years in sales, marketing and channel development positions with Itron, NRTC’s AMI partner.

Kusant will be NRTC’s RBM on the road meeting members from Maine to South Carolina and as far west as Tennessee. It is almost the exact area he covered while with Itron. “One of the big selling points for me [joining NRTC] was that it’s a lot of folks I already know and territory I know as well,” he said.

Also, while with Itron, he managed sales channels and vendor relationships, including contacts with NRTC. “That was interesting for a lot of different reasons. It was a new role [Itron] just created and I able to drive change throughout the organization and provide partners a consistent experience,” Kusant said. It was during the time immediately after Itron acquired Silver Spring Networks, NRTC’s earlier AMI partner. “I met a bunch of good folks at NRTC at that time.”

Kusant was part of many projects with rural cooperatives during his tenure at Itron. “I’ve always enjoyed working with cooperatives and I am excited to reconnect with many old friends and make new ones,” he said. Most recently Kusant was a portfolio account manager for Itron, focusing on large-scale AMI and automation projects in northeastern states.  Earlier, as an Itron sales manager, Kusant worked closely with co-ops, municipalities and investor-owned utilities on metering, software and service solutions.

Kusant is a graduate of the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, with a bachelor’s in electrical engineering. He will be based in New Jersey and will be reachable at bradley.kusant@nrtccoopstg.wpengine.com.
