NRTC members offering broadband internet now have access to a DIRECTV streaming video referral service designed to help subscribers find the video package that suits them. Streaming video bundles are one of the most effective tools broadband providers can use to attract and retain long-term subscribers.

“This is no longer the old-fashioned DIRECTV that you may be familiar with … We’ve been around for 31 years, and we continue to evolve,” said Karen Perez-Young, a DIRECTV account manager during a recent webinar. Aside from its traditional satellite TV service, it also offers a full menu of streaming services, including four programing packages and cloud-based digital video recording (DVR).  DIRECTV is one of multiple streaming options NRTC offers its members.

DIRECTV’s easy-to-install Gemini Air device provides viewers with access to the wide range of programming available. It includes a remote voice assistant that interfaces with Google Assistant. It can link viewers to third-party applications (Netflix, Hulu, etc.) and wireless 4K video quality images on multiple screens. DIRECTV leases Gemini Air for $10 per month, per device.

“The beauty of the solution is you are going to get your customer over to a DIRECTV expert, so they are going to be able to right-size the package as well as the number of Gemini Air devices, or additional devices that customer is going to need to outfit their home,” said Brad Pawkey of RFI, a company that partners with DIRECTV to provide training and other streaming video support.

Members interested in the referral program should contact NRTC at video@nrtc.coop. An NRTC representative will coordinate training and other resources needed to begin referring customers to DIRECTV.
