A New Landmark Rises in Herndon

Randy Sukow Sep 28, 2016

For years NRTC members and technology businesses partners have been getting off of airplanes at Dulles Airport to meet with us here at NRTC’s Herndon, VA, headquarters. On the cab ride over, people always knew just where to find us by the large NRTC logo atop the building.

As of this week, visitors have a new landmark. We’ve replaced our old logo with the new one we introduced earlier this year. As we explained earlier, the new logo emphasizes the ‘T’ and ‘C’ in our name to remind everyone that we are the technology cooperative here to serve rural electric and telephone companies.

Shannon Clark, secretary-treasurer of NRTC’s board of directors and CEO/GM of Richland Electric Cooperative in Richland Center, WI, appeared at the NRECA Region 5 & 6 meeting in Minneapolis last week to talk about NRTC’s 30th Anniversary. He mentioned the new logo, saying that the most important part of it is the tag line, “Member Driven. Technology Focused.”

“I’m really excited about the things that are going on at NRTC with the new logo, but it’s really what’s at the heart of our mission that drives us every day,” Clark said. “We can’t predict where technology will take us in the future. We do know it is going to be a bigger and bigger part of electric co-ops. It’s going to be faster and more complicated in our daily operation.” NRTC has the staff and technology experience to serve its members, he said.

NRECA’s agenda for its remaining regional meetings in Reno, NV (Oct. 4-6), St. Louis, MO (Oct. 11-14), and Myrtle Beach, SC (Oct. 25-27) includes similar recognitions of NRTC’s 30th anniversary.
