A large gathering arrived in Jekyll Island, GA, today for the opening of NRTC’s TechConnect 2017. NRTC established the conference this year as a centralized showcase of all the various technologies it promotes. It all started this evening with an oceanside reception of the Westin Jekyll Island Hotel (above).
The reception was a chance to network and socialize for NRTC members with interests covering a wide range of technologies that are changing rural America. Pictured here, Ed Durham, a senior business development representative for Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (center) talks tech with NRTC CEO Tim Bryan (left) and Ed Drew, NRTC’s VP, Utility Solutions.
The conference will include special breakout sessions where users of NRTC’s NeoNova and Telispire subsidiaries will be able to plot out ways to improve and expand their ISP and mobile phone businesses. In addition, there will be breakout sessions for members providing Exede satellite broadband service through NRTC and a special broadband session featuring Microsoft VP Paul Garnett discussing the potential of wireless broadband in rural areas using the TV white spaces spectrum.
The action begins tomorrow with a keynote address by Ron Litzinger, president of Edison Energy. Many Jekyll Island are looking forward to a Thursday address by DISH Network Founder Charlie Ergen.
