NRTC’s broadband members now have a new offering to entice subscribers: the popular new streaming service HBO Max. The streaming service, launched in May by WarnerMedia, provides access to more than 10,000 hours of content, ranging from popular and classic movies to brand new HBO Max exclusives.

“We’re really very excited to provide HBO Max to our members,” said Renée Harrison, NRTC’s vice president of Video Solutions. “This is the first time in NRTC’s history that we’ve been able to offer a streaming premium video product to our members. It’s one more way that we can help our broadband members remain competitive in the endlessly changing video industry.”

The new HBO Max agreement allows any NRTC member that offers broadband to market the streaming service to its customers. Existing HBO subscribers get access to the streaming service for free, but non-subscribers can sign up for a standalone HBO Max subscription. Content is viewable on a range of devices including smartphones, tablets and newer television sets.

“We have already launched the service with a number of our video members,” Harrison added. “With this offering, there is also an opportunity to generate recurring revenue, and members can offer the service at a competitive price.”

There has been continued coverage of HBO Max the news. One report found that viewers were spending 70 percent more time viewing the HBO Max service than on the programmer’s previous offering, HBO Now. The service is also particularly popular with younger audiences, with an estimated 23 percent of viewers falling between the ages of 18 and 24.
