Randy Sukow / Dec 30, 2019

U.S. Marine Colonel Matthew Reid, a decorated combat veteran with two deployments to Iraq and another two to Afghanistan, will be the guest speaker at NRTC’s Annual Meeting session for electric members. The meeting begins at 2 p.m. on March 1 at the Ernest Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

Col. Reid currently serves as director of the “Coyote-6” Tactical Training Exercise Control Group at Twentynine Palms, CA. In his latest combat experience, he led 300 Marines against the Taliban to take back the Helmand Province of Afghanistan in April 2017. Among his many decorations are two Bronze Stars with a “V” for valor and two combat action ribbons.

The electric session also will include elections for three seats on the NRTC Board of Directors. After completion of the nomination process, the incumbents for all three seats will run for reelection unopposed. They are George Kitchens of Joe Wheeler Electric Membership Corp., Trinity, AL (District 3); Bob Hance of Midwest Energy Cooperative, Cassopolis, MI (District 4), and Tim Mergen of Meeker Cooperative Light & Power Association, Litchfield, MN (District 6). The meeting will be in conjunction with the NRECA Annual Meeting and TechAdvantage Expo.

The NRTC Annual Meeting will begin with the first session for telephone members on Feb. 18, 2:30 p.m., at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown, Phoenix, AZ, during NTCA’s RTIME 2020 conference. Two District 12 at-large incumbents will run unopposed there: Jason Dandridge of Palmetto Rural Telephone Cooperative, Inc., Walterboro, SC, and Jimmy Todd of Nex‐Tech, Lenora, KS.
